Joint Base Charleston Short Stay Recreational Area offers a beautiful recreation area with year round outdoor activities and recreational lodging. Sitting on fifty five acres, Short Stay offers wonderful views of Lake Moultrie where camping, fishing and a beach offer plenty for the family or group outing. Open to Active Duty Personnel, Retired Military, DOD Civilians and their dependents, this Recreational Area is a great one-day play day or a week long retreat!
- Active duty military and DoD personnel assigned to Joint Base Charleston are welcome to use Short Stay for recreational purposes while in authorized leave status.
- Individuals (active duty military / DoD personnel) in PCS status may utilize Short Stay for a period not to exceed 30 days.
- Individuals in TDY status to Joint Base Charleston may utilize Short Stay for a period not to exceed 180 days.
- Use of Short Stay is limited to 180 days per calendar year.
Lodging
Accommodations can be reserved 3 months in advance for lodging or camping and 6 months in advance for conference center, clubhouse, and pavilions for eligible patrons. Reservations for 15+ units may be made 12 months in advance. Full payment is required at time of booking.
Business Facilities
Whether you are planning a small, celebratory gathering or a multiple-day conference, Short Stay can accommodate your needs. The Lakeview Clubhouse offers an intimate, waterfront, rustic venue. For large gatherings or events requiring a more formal setting, the Conference Center. The Conference center is ideal for team building, off-site training and social get-togethers.
Rustic Camping
Want a little more of the camping experience? Log cabins are equipped with refrigerators, beds, heating and air conditioning, and microwaves. Bathrooms are located at the bathhouse and/or portalets nearby. Tent campsites are also available.
FamCamp
Sites are available with either 30 or 50 amp capability. Forty-one sites have cable hookups. A dump station and bathhouse are loated nearby for camper's use. We do not have full hookups; a dumpstation is located in the campground.
